Setting up Wordpress and Publishing

  1. 2. Check your email for the login link (make sure to check the spam folder as the email is usually sent to spam), your login name and randomly generated password (you can change this later).
  2. 3. Once logged in you will be prompted at the top of the page to edit your profile (also change your password) – here you can also add links to any social media profiles you maintain. The profile section is found on the left hand side within the navigation bar. Be sure to add a relevant bio and a profile picture. When finished click on “update profile” at the bottom of the page.

Posting Your Article

Make sure your entire article (without pictures) is written on Google Docs before going to publish your article. This will make it much easier to format later.
  1. In left hand column, click “posts” and then click “add new”
  2. Upload your photos first by clicking “upload media” and selecting your photos that you wish to put in your blog. They will continue to upload as you write.
  3. On the page that loads, enter the following
    – Title
    – Add your piece into the body (copy it in is fine) (I also recommend using elementor for formatting your post but you can use wordpress classic editor.)
    – On far right side – choose ONE appropriate category by checking the appropriate box
    – Underneath the body, fill in the following fields in Yoast SEO : A. Focus Keyword B. SEO Title and C. Meta Description – (You can add the title of your piece into all three of these boxes)
  4. 6. Click the blue button on the upper right of the page that says, “Submit for Review”. That is it! We post your piece live typically within 7-14 days, although sometimes we do get backlogged with new posts and it might be several weeks (we like to give each post several days front-page time).
  5. Note: With your user account – you can also create photo galleries to be linked from the Photo section of our site. We recommend photos sized 1500 pixels in width. Slightly larger is also ok.

If you have any questions associated with setting up your account and publishing a post, email [email protected].
